Young Winos of San Francisco - Make Your Own Wine With Community Crush

The Young Winos of San Francisco are joining Community Crush to make our own wine, and we want you to be a part of it! All you have to do is buy one bottle of the wine that we are making at $26 a bottle. Not only do you get the wine but you also get access to all the crush events so you can follow the wine making process.

We’ve worked it out with Community Crush for all the Young Winos of SF to join the Haight Ashbury neighborhood group. Here are some details on the wine we are making and the schedule of events:
Community Crush Haight-Ashbury Pinot 2009 (Pinot Noir): Marine Influenced mornings and afternoon breezes coming off Monterrey Bay are the foundation for Santa Lucia Highlands Pinots. Doctor's Vineyard is on an eastern-facing site near the western side of the Salinas River Valley. The vineyard is situated just above the fog line to take advantage of ripening morning sun. This wine is expected to have traditional Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot characteristics of wonderfully complex fruit flavors with vibrant acidity.

• October/November 2009 - Crush Camps (come to Crushpad to sort grapes, do “punchdowns”, and learn about winemaking)
• January & February 2010- Label Design Contest runs
• March 2010 - Barrel Sample Party at Crushpad
• June 2010- Crushpad's Annual Open house: come taste your wine (and lots of others) & eat tacos!
• July/August 2010- Bottling Party at Crushpad

The above events take place with all neighborhood groups but we will also be invited to events that just the Haight Neighborhood group puts on. You can also learn more about Community Crush and Crushpad on these websites: http://www.crushnet.com/communitycrush and http://www.crushpadwine.com/.

So here is how you sign up:
1. Go to http://www.crushnet.com/user/register and create an account. If you want to represent the Young Winos with pride you can include YWSF in your username. So far we have KatieYWSF, KellyYWSF, and ColinYWSF.
2. Once you have a user name, request to join the Haight Ashbury Neighborhood group. http://www.crushnet.com/groups/14399/community-crush-haight-ashbury This will send a request to the group leader to approve your membership.
3. Once you are approved for the group you’ll receive an email that says you have an allocation of wine. Each person is allocated 12 bottles (but you only have to buy one). Follow the link in the email you receive and click “approve” when it shows you the allocations.
4. On the next page you get to select how many bottles you want (between 1 and 12). Then you can just pay for the bottle(s) and that’s it!

Steps 1-2 can be done first and steps 3-4 can be completed at a later date (if you can’t buy your bottle immediately).
